Joep Beving

In 2015, Dutch pianist Joep Beving recorded his own music and uploaded it to Spotify. Unexpectedly, debut album ‘Solipsism’ gained over 120 million streams, instantly making Beving one of the most listened to living pianists in the world. Prestigious label Deutsche Grammophon noticed and snapped him up. Beving’s compositions are soft and not unnecessarily complex. The spirit of A Winged Victory for the Sullen and Olafur Arnalds is never too far off.

Beving hopes that his classical compositions can unite people. At Gent Jazz last year, he asked the audience not to applaud in between songs, but to daydream away instead. With music from recently released new album ‘Henosis’ and the beautiful Belfry setting, daydreaming won’t be too difficult this summer.
